Support and Prayer for our Local Regiment

You may be aware that the Highlanders, which form part of the Highland regiment, is in effect our local Regiment. The Highlanders were formed from an amalgamation of the Gordon Highlanders and the Queens Own Highlanders, which was in turn an amalgamation of the Seaforth and Cameron Highlanders.

Many of those in our communities who have served in the army, served with these regiments and many of the troops now with the battalion are from those same communities.

While we as a church pray daily for peace in the world, we should also remember those who through their service in our armed forces find themselves in places and situations of risk. We should pray for their safety and for their families and for a safe return to the people and communities that love them.

At present B company are in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, the rest of the Highlanders will be deployed to Basra Airfield, Iraq in May.

We should also remember those who serve from RAF Kinloss and Lossiemouth and who are regularly deployed overseas. Please pray for them and for all those caught up in conflict.
