Communion Service to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Culloden Sunday 13 April 2008 at 7.00pm

This service held the Sunday before the battle at St John's Episcopal Church, Southside Road, Inverness will use the 1637 Rite, which was common to Episcopalians and also many of the government soldiers of that time and is known as Laud's Liturgy. ...

The service is to commemorate those of the Episcopal tradition who fought and who died under the Jacobite banner. But it will also do justice for all who fought, for whatever reason, on either side. St John's is the original Episcopal congregation of Inverness. It was disestablished in 1688 by the Act of Parliament. The congregation vacated the church building and moved to Maggot's Fields in Douglas Row, Inverness. The building was raised to the ground in April 1746 as part of the aftermath of the battle of Culloden.
