‘BREAD FOR THE JOURNEY’

A RETREAT WHICH IS LOCAL, PERSONAL AND FLEXIBLE

Have you ever thought of going away on a retreat but not been able to arrange it due to your other commitments, or because of the cost?  Here is a chance to have a taste of a retreat whilst still living your daily life; it’s through a week of Individually Guided Prayer, running in the Highlands from Sept 14th  to 20.  It is ecumenical and open to anyone.

It works like this: Each day from Monday to Friday you set aside a time for prayer (min. 20 minutes, max. 1hour) and you also meet daily with a  prayer guide for half an hour. Guides have been trained to help you reflect on what happens in your prayer time, to help you to attend to the unique way in which  the Holy Spirit prays in you, and to suggest Scripture passages for you to use.  The meetings are confidential, he or she is not there to give advice or to judge, but to ‘walk alongside’ you during this period.  Don’t be put off by feeling you can’t pray, or that its hard to find words to express what happens when you do, your guide is very human too!

The retreat starts on Sunday Sept 14th. with a meeting at the Coach House, Kilmuir, (near North Kessock on the Black Isle)  for all participants to come together, to be introduced to some methods of prayer, and to meet their individual guide. There is a closing meeting on Saturday 20th.

If you do not have your own transport we will try and  make arrangements for you to have a lift to Kilmuir for the group meetings at the beginning and end of the retreat.  During the week for the individual meetings,  we aim to have a range of venues to avoid participants having to travel too far.  In previous years guides have travelled out to GlenUrquhart,  Dingwall, Strathpeffer, Inverness, Culloden.  We will consider other  possible venues in consultation with this year’s participants.

Leaflets with further information and application forms are available at the back of your church or by phone to Joyce/Ruth at the Coach House: 01463 731386

We ask for a donation of £25/20 per person to cover the retreat costs, however all are welcome irrespective of whether a donation of this amount is possible or not.
